School: Golden Horn Elementary School, Whitehorse, YTPosition: Vice Principal (0.5) and LAT (0.5) FTE: 1.0 Temp Start Date: August 20, 2024 End Date: April 15, 2025 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience: Possession of, or working towards a Masters of Education degree or equivalent in educational administration and/or another related field; Recent successful practice as an administrator and/or system and/or school-based educational leadership; Recent experience working as a Learning Assistance Teacher in the primary grades with an emphasis on structured literacy instruction; Coursework specializing in special education; A minimum of five years teaching experience Grades K-7 in a minimum of two elementary school locations; Successful teaching experience with diverse learners in a primary setting. Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEP) Student Support Plans (SSP) Behaviour Support Plans (BSP) and Safety Plans;DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY: Candidates should have and may be assessed on their: Experience incorporating First Nations ways of knowing and doing and integrating outdoor experiential education into teaching, learning, and assessment; A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population; Ability to support social emotional learning, character education, positive well-being and restorative practices in the classroom and school setting; Strong management, planning and organizational skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and collaboratively with students, staff and the school community;ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first; Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
