Columbia International College (CIC) is the largest private boarding school in Canada. CIC has an enrollment of approximately 900 students from over 73 countries. As a boarding school, students live, sleep, eat, study, play and learn while staying in one of our residences.

We are currently looking for a High School Music Teacher to join us in the delivery of our Total Care Education System

Academic Duties include but are not limited to: Experience teaching Music to youth

Being adequately prepared for daily teaching assignments as per the Ministry of Education

Preparing daily lesson plans, unit plans, and assessment plans and in such a way aligns to Growing Success (Ministry assessment evaluation document)

All teachers shall adopt three levels of educational planning: Long range planning, Unit planning, Daily lesson planning

Conducting classes and instructing pupils in accordance with Provincial and school curricular guidelines and policies.

Undertaking systematic, objective and continuous evaluation of the progress being made by each student, in accordance with the most recent Ministry guidelines.

Keeping accurate and systematic records of student achievement for this purpose, and issue reports to students and parents according to Provincial and school guidelines.

Co-operate with school administrative personnel and colleagues in fostering harmonious staff relations, and acting as an enthusiastic member of the school's educational team.Additional Responsibilities Work with partner schools on music pathways for our students

Build, oversee and Coach the School band and choir

Coordinate and oversee Music through the school band and choir (school song, O Canada, etc) for school wide events including awards assemblies and Graduations.

Two (2) hours per week to supervise extracurricular activities as determined by the principal or designate; and

Two (2) hours per week to participate in departmental co-curricular activities as determined by the principal or designate.

The Employee shall attend and participate in all staff and department meeting, the teacher advisor program, professional development activities, and professional day activities as determined by the principal or designate.Qualifications: OCT preferred but not required

University degree required (Music preferred)

Experience teaching music to youth

Experience in both vocal music and instrumental music

Passionate, energetic and a demonstrated love of the arts and music

Teaching availability form beginning of August to end of June
