STATUS: Ten Month, 0.6 FTE, ProbationaryCalgary French & International School (CFIS) is a full French language immersion co-educational independent school, serving nearly 780 students from preschool through to Grade 12. Job Description: CFIS is seeking a Learning Strategist (Grades 1 to 5) for the 2024-2025 school year. In collaboration with the Principal, and Student Learning and Wellbeing Team, the learning strategist will lead, model, and organize student support for students from grades 1-5. They will be responsible for developing, implementing, and following up on Individual Program Plans, as well as providing targeted intervention to students requiring Tier 2 and Tier 3 support.Although the successful candidate will support student learning in all areas of the curriculum, preference will be given to candidates with a strong background

and experience in numeracy. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Supporting students:

? Supporting students to advocate for their learning needs.

? Helping students develop personalized strategies for learning.

? Tracking assessment data for students with ISPs.

? Oversee the development and implementation of students on ISPs.

? Provide individual student and group learning support.

? Maintain working files on students who require support.

? Coordinate accommodations for exams/projects

Supporting faculty:

? Will collaborate with classroom teachers to provide student accommodations in class, as well as a specific focus on teaching executive functioning skills to all students.

? Provide best-practice professional development for CFIS faculty with respect to strategies to support student learning.

? Model planning and instructional strategies to support universal design for learning.

? Collaborate with teachers to develop best practices to support student learning needs.Supporting families:

? Coordinate and facilitate communication between school and outside support agencies.

? Consult with parents and provide ongoing communication when appropriate;

? Meet with parents in developing and updating them on their childs learning plan and/or ISP goals.

? Coordinate support meetings with students/families and external resources.

Qualifications: ? Master of Education (preferred) or Bachelor of Education.

? Eligible for or in possession of an Alberta Permanent or Interim Teaching Certificate.

? Bilingual (French and English.

? Valid first-aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

? Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme is desirable.The successful candidate will need to provide an updated Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work.
