Teachers - Travel For Credit

Remote Learning Rate of Pay: $47.54 per hour Teachers required for Careers/Civics (GLC20/CHV20) Effective Dates: Hours:

June 17, 2024 virtual meeting 7:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m.

June 18 - July 1, 2024 independent asynchronous learning 10

July 2-5, 2024 online synchronous learning 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

July 6 - July 12, 2024 (7 days - travel as per itinerary)

July 15 - 18, 2024 online synchronous learning 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The travel component of this program offers students an innovative way to earn high school credit while exploring Ottawa, Montreal and New York. By embedding a highly-curated travel experience within the Civics & Careers course, classroom learning comes to life through hands-on, real-world experiences. Ottawa, Montreal, and New York City serve as a backdrop to help students understand governmental systems, and to explore a variety of career options while developing the skills, strategies, and habits to succeed. Teachers will be paid 130 hours for this position, on a without prejudice or precedent basis. The 130 hours includes curriculum delivery, mandatory attendance at the training session and staff meeting, and the travel component of this course. Teachers are expected to deliver curriculum synchronously and asynchronously

Teachers are expected to attend one (1 hour) training session

Teachers are expected to attend one (1 hour) staff meeting

Teachers are expected to manage D2L shell for assignment submission, marking, and student communication

Teachers are expected to engage students in a unique experiential learning environment

Teachers are responsible for delivering the D2L-based and experiential-based prepared curriculum capitalizing on the connection in three major cities

Teachers are not responsible for the organization or logistical planning of the travel component

The travel component will comply with the Procedure Policy 303: School Organized and Continuing Education Excursions, specifically as it related to a Level III Excursion

1:12 Teacher/Student Ratio will be maintained during the travel component

Teachers are expected to travel on a coach bus with the students as per itinerary for the travel component

Teachers are not delivering curriculum during the travel component

Teacher are responsible for the daytime supervision of students in conjunction with EduTravel staff during the travel component

Teachers will be On-Call for evening emergency situations to support EduTravel staff, if required

Transportation, lodging, breakfast, and dinner are complimentary for Teacher must have a valid passportRequired Qualifications/Experience: Intermediate and Senior Qualifications

Religious Education, Part 1 (or equivalent)

Member in good standing with the Ontario College of TeachersPreference will be given to candidates with: Previous experience in Continuing Education programs
